Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs are one of those things people keep asking us for, so eventually we gave in.

And, after being pleasantly surprised by the Bakewell Tarts, I am prepared to admit that Mr Kipling may know what he’s doing.

These little Battenbergs are exactly what you want them to be: alternating pink and yellow sponge, a layer of apricot filling, all wrapped in that unmistakable almond-flavoured paste.

This particular batch had a slightly enthusiastic journey to America, so some of the boxes are a bit pressed. I made sure to check all the contents that I was allowed to check, but do know that the packaging may look like it has had a more eventful trip than most which means you get the same Mini Battenbergs for a little less money.

Classic Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs, just with slightly less impressive cardboard outer than usual.
