McVities Dark Chocolate Hobnobs

$8.99

The original Hobnob is already dangerously good: crunchy, oaty, slightly crumbly and substantial enough to survive a proper dunking. Cover one side in dark chocolate, though, and things get considerably more serious.

Dark Chocolate Hobnobs have everything that makes the original so good, with a richer, less sweet chocolate topping that works ridiculously well with the toasted oat biscuit underneath.

And yes, they suffer from exactly the same problem as their milk chocolate cousins: eating the number you originally intended is largely theoretical. You start with two, go back for another, and before long you’re assessing whether there are really enough left to justify putting the packet away.

They’re glorious with a cup of tea, exceptional straight from the packet, and particularly good for anyone who likes their biscuits with a little more chocolate and a little less sweetness.

Every American we’ve introduced to Hobnobs eventually understands why Britain takes biscuits so seriously.
